Re: Connections

I applaud the quote and wish other publishers used that logic.

BO2 was a mess...at first.  After the connection hotfixes, and some router tweaking, I was able to have mostly stable games and my scores were back to normal.  My overall KDR is lower than normal because I never started over.  I played through the terrible lag, and terrible controls, until things finally got better in February.  My monthly and weekly scores were much closer to Ghosts after the hotfixes and the router tweaking.  Unless I played in a party.  Playing with my clan often brought terrible results, but playing solo ran great unless I got a bad host.  Still had the occasional laggy players that you just can't kill.

Ghosts runs great...now that I changed my NAT type to moderate.  Unless I get a bad host, or I'm hosting and get a couple players with terrible connections in the match.  They bog me down.  For the most part though it is really smooth.  Around 3:00am I start getting foreign players though, I pull host, and at that point I cannot win a head-on gunfight with even terrible players.  The plus side is that I don't have to.  The map design in Ghosts is open enough that you can always flank someone.  I can still pull above a 2.0 KDR by not engaging anyone head-on.  I just flank them and shoot them while they are not looking.  It's a struggle, but I still do well even in those laggy matches thanks to the map design.  Which is one reason I love the maps.  Unless someone is camping in a building with only one entrance (like the one on Warhawk) I can sneak around well enough to get a good score.  I just don't go in that building.

They did change the netcode and that improved hit detection by making less of a delay overall (ping + server delays...brief description I know), and the game shows.  The problem lies in the matchmaking.  I shouldn't get stuck with a host from Japan or Europe, giving me a terrible ping, but it can still happen.   When that does happens I have to leave the match.  My shots just don't register.  On my screen I'm shooting the enemy, but in reality, I'm already dead.   All they need to do is improve matchmaking.
